No More Songs Until It's Done!

Hey everyone,
I've decided that I will no longer be posting songs from the new album until the album is complete. At that time, the album will be available for purchase for $5 in digital format and also as 1-2 CD-R's or a DVD-R (depends on which you would like). You can also specify if you want iTunes (AAC) or mp3 format for the songs. It will include the full album, a pictures folder, and a couple of surprises. Inside this folder will be photographs I will take and also possibly artwork from my friend, Lacy. I will be working diligently on this to make sure you get your money's worth. I will post updates on my progress. The track-listing so far is:
1) A Day on a Bridge
2) Beginning the Journey
3) A Day in the Sun
4) (And So) It Comes to This
5) The Storm Before Me
6) Alone at Sea
7) Crashing on the Shores of Tomorrow
8) When All You Stand Upon Falls to the Ground
9) Looking Up at the Stars
10) On Your Feet Again
These songs are likely to change, but this is what I have so far. Let me know what you think.

New songs

Hey everyone,
I'm about to post two songs on the Google groups page. The first is the newly recorded version of "A Day On a Bridge." The second is a piano piece that I did quite a while ago (4 years back or so) that I thought fit the track title "On Your Feet Again" pretty well. Check them out when you can and let me know what you think.

New Song! :D

Hey,
I just wrote a new song, which is available on the uploads page. It is called "When All You Stand Upon Falls to the Ground" (filename: Post-Rock 22). It actually inspired me to start on a post-rock concept album. I haven't written the story for it yet, since the idea just popped into my head, but I'll do it soon enough. If you all have any suggestions, definitely run them by me. Hope you enjoy the song and have a good week.

Looking for Inspiration

Hey,
After several attempts to produce a noteworthy song, I am at a loss. I need some inspiration. So, I thought, where better to look than in my listeners. If you have any imagery that you think I could build a song off of, post it in the comments. Thanks a lot!

Uploads Page

Hey everyone,
For the google groups page where the songs are, don't left click on them. If you right-click on the song and click on "Save Link As". It will save as an mp3 file. Hope you enjoy them. I'm about to go play some guitar and hopefully will come up with an idea for a song or two. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Back from a trip

Hey everyone,
I just got back from a trip (Legislative Day) and I got to introduce someone to post-rock. It's always nice to present someone to something that they have been wanting to hear, but had not found yet. It got me thinking about the genre and music in general. It got me thinking about why I like these things and why others like them as well. I think it comes down to the idea of release; an emotional release. With music, we can portray any mood, idea, emotion, or imagery just through music alone. That's the beauty of it, especially genres like classical and post-rock. They open the mind as to what can be done without words and a chorus that you can chant. It creates a deeper connection to the music and really draws you in with the sometimes intimate feel. The band "The Six Parts Seven" is a great example of this idea. The very soothing, flowing feel of the music draws you in and the changes from movement to movement really feels like it's natural, not forced at all. Also, the reverb from the instruments makes you believe that they are right in the room with you. Well, I think that's all I've got to say for now. I plan to work on some more songs this weekend (possibly on the Bioshock concept album). I will post anything that I do.

By the way, if you haven't heard The Six Parts Seven, let me know. They are a terrific band and deserve great respect for their beautiful work. I will gladly send you some of their music :)

First post

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, so I'm a little lost as to where I should begin. I guess I will start by introducing myself and the purpose of this blog.
My name is Nick. I am a college student studying electrical engineering, a movie buff, amateur film-maker, and aspiring musician. I also tend to be a bit frank and straight-forward, which is why my posts will most likely be relatively short.

The main purpose of this blog is to share my love, my ideas, and my creations in the areas of music and video. I will post new songs as I write them to chronicle my music’s evolution and development, looking for suggestions and ideas of how to make it better. I will also post my occasional videos as I slowly delve into film-making.

Thank you for reading and I hope to have some stuff up for you all soon.
